Collin James Band is a high energy dance/party band based out of Waco, TX and plays a wide mix of country, rock, and 80's hits that get the crowd moving and dancing! Every song is a sing-along. With a huge playlist of songs, they customize their setlists to the venue and desired genres. With harmony vocals, twin guitars, bass, drums, and fiddle, the Collin James Band brings the fun and excitement that a full party band provides, while getting the crowd involved and engaged all evening long!
Collin James was born in Austin and fronted his first band in high school, a Barry Manilow tribute band called The Scum Sucking Turtles. After a misspent youth of fast cars, outlaw country and hairbands, the Collin James Band was born. Collin spent many years in central Florida, surfing, wrestling gators, and gigging in both the Orlando and Space Coast live music scenes before returning to his roots in Texas. He currently calls Waco home, singing lead and playing rhythm guitar and the occasional fiddle tune. With his wide musical tastes, the Collin James Band is equally at home in a honky tonk dancehall or a corporate party with a mix of all genres. Collin prides himself on getting the crowd engaged and moving to the music, whatever it takes.
Joel Best was born the son of poor sharecroppers in the Mississippi delta. One hot day in mid-July he came upon a guitar duel at the crossroads and the rest is guitar history. He has been melting faces ever since, from Longview to Waco with his searing lead guitar tones and massive pedal board girth. Legend has it, every time the power dims, Joel has added another pedal.
Lorena recording artist Rick Roper needs no introduction. Rick has been bringing the boom with his soulful and soul crushing bass playing to the Waco area since before Chip and Joanna knew how to spell sighlow. His nickname of "Thunderbass" is well earned, and he prefers and encourages you to come up to him at gigs and refer to him as such. Local business SpaceX has erroneously earned a bad reputation as Waco-area residents have repeatedly mistaken Rick's rehearsal times as the SpaceX rockets.
Ryan Klein's amazing drumming is surpassed only by his pristine and infectious harmony vocals. Most Friday nights Ryan can be heard downtown simultaneously playing a fast train beat while singing 5th harmonies and sipping an umbrella cocktail. The party doesn't start until Ryan unpacks his kick drum! Bartenders love him and cymbals fear him. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys golf, rom-com's, and long walks on the beach.
